The Foundations and Essentials versions of the ProEthica program are built around the same fundamental module structure. There is a version of the program for Teachers and for School Leaders at each of these two levels. Each version addresses the content from a teacher's or leader's lens with varying degrees of complexity, making the ProEthica program suitable for all educators, regardless of where you are in your professional career.
This module addresses how you promote effective and appropriate relationships and interactions with members of the school community while maintaining professional boundaries in and outside of the school building.
This module is only available in the School Leader version. It identifies your responsibility to establish and foster an ethical and professional culture within your school by examining some of the unique ethical challenges you face.

Most professional leagues currently require that unvaccinated players test for COVID-19 regularly. Therefore, many leagues will likely opt to continue these procedures in lieu of mandating the vaccine. However, you should be aware of the various hurdles that exist if you decide to take this route, including ensuring that non-player employees are also tested weekly.

When you repeat a course, only your most recent grade is used when Western calculates your GPA. However, the class still shows up on your transcript. Although some students think that repeating a course will help them get into professional schools, this is almost always untrue. Professional schools will take into account all college-level coursework when performing their own calculation of your GPA, and this will include any courses you have repeated at Western. Still, in some circumstances it may be appropriate to repeat a course so talk to an advisor to be sure. Also, dropping a course can have an impact on eligibility for financial aid, scholarships, and athletic participation so consider your options carefully and speak with an advisor before making a decision.
Research experience is not required to develop a strong application for professional school, but can be a great way to enhance your application if you are interested. Many opportunities exist both on campus through individual departments and programs, and off campus. Contact your major department, or speak with a faculty member about participating in undergraduate research.
The professional and career development of all graduate students is a top priority of the Dietrich School. We foster a culture in which the value of diverse, excellent, and high-impact careers both within and beyond the academy is broadly understood and embraced. Graduate students combine deep disciplinary training with the development of broad and versatile competencies such as communication, project management, collaborative work in interdisciplinary teams, and leadership.
Complementing programming developed by the university, school, and departments, this program is intended to support student-designed and student-led projects that will contribute to the professional development of graduate students. This is an opportunity for you to take the lead on a project, to implement it and assess its impact, and thus also to develop leadership skills.
Supported projects might include, but are not limited to, student-facilitated or organized workshops or panel discussions on a specific versatile competency or transferable skill; student-organized events with doctoral alumni from employment sectors beyond the academy; activities that incorporate partnering with non-academic campus units to promote professional development; or projects that link professional development with other strategic priorities in graduate studies, such as diversity and inclusion, or global awareness and engagement.
Preference will be given to proposals that address needs and topics not covered by current professional development programming, to proposals that are put forward by teams including and targeting students from two or more graduate programs in the Dietrich School, and to proposals that promise a sustainable impact. Each proposal must focus on a specific professional development need related to success in graduate school and beyond.
